Internship - September 2008:
The Heritage Farm Museum of Loudoun County seeks intern with interest
and skills in educational programming. This position is for 250 hours.
Internship period is September 1 ? November 30, 2008. A $500 stipend
is available to quailfied candidates.
The Educational Programs Intern will provide support for the development
of new programs that meet the Standards of Learning for Virginia.
Activities will include administrative support, market research,
public outreach, development of lesson plans and hands-on instruction
in a Museum setting. The intern will report to the Education Specialist
and work closely with the Curator and Manager.
Minimum requirements: BA with major coursework in history, education,
museum studies or related field. Previous experience developing
surveys, coordinating focus groups and conducting educational programs
desired. Interest in agriculture and local history a plus.
The Heritage Farm Museum is Loudoun Countys museum of agriculture.
We preserve, promote and bring to life Loudouns rich agricultural
heritage and the history of rural life in Northern Virginia. The
Museum is operated by the County of Loudoun in partnership with
Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum, Inc.

Join the Team at the Heritage Farm Museum!
The Heritage Farm Museum located in Claude Moore Park in Sterling
seeks volunteers to serve as program assistants and instructors
for Standards-of-Learning based school and Scout programs in our
new interactive exhibit hall. These positions are a perfect way
to learn about the history of our area while gaining valuable experience
developing and teaching educational programs. Programs include:
Farmin' Fever, Apples, Apples Everywhere, Weights and Measures and
a variety of Scout badge and achievement projects. Ask us about
internships for college and graduate school students; paid positions
also available for qualified applicants.
The Heritage Farm Museum is dedicated to preserving, promoting,
and bringing to life the history of agriculture and rural life in
Loudoun County. The facility includes a permanent exhibit, an indoor
hands-on educational play area for children and the Waxpool General
Store. The museum specializes in classes that meet the Virginia
Standards of Learning and interactive history, cultural and live-animal
programming for all ages.
